About the store
I have spent my entire career in the elementary and middle school realm. I have taught first, second, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades! I've spent the last several years teaching middle school science. In 2018-2019 school year I left the traditional classroom to become a "special area" teacher. It's a cross between project based learning, STEM, design thinking, Library Skills, and College/Career readiness. I have over 15 years of teaching and look forward to many more.

Coding with Minions

This product is designed for kindergarten through second grade, but older students who struggle with coding could enjoy this "game" too! You can do this activity by projecting it on a white board and moving a cut out character through each level, or you could use it as a coding station/center/done box. This is a great way to introduce coding before having students logging onto a computer and using your favorite coding website. This product comes with 26 slides: 8 introduction and set up slides w

4-Square Writing for an Argument

This PowerPoint guides students through using a 4-Square planner for writing an argument. It is meant to help students look at information critically, decide which information to use, and then organize it in a meaningful way. When I used this with my class of 6th graders, we did this lesson over a few days and then they had to write the opposing view on the same topic.

Experience

I have spent my entire career in the elementary and middle school realm. I have taught first, second, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades! I've spent the last several years teaching middle school science. In 2018-2019 school year I left the traditional classroom to become a "special area" teacher. Teaching style

I like to let my students explore with their learning. Of course their are times when direct instruction is necessary, but giving students a list of open ended essential questions and a variety of materials to use to find those answers is my favorite way to get the "boring" things done. I love to spend my time doing labs and have discussions about the learning going on in my room.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Graduated with high honors from both my degree programs. Nominated and Finalist for Teacher of the Year

My own education history

Arizona State University - BA Elementary Education George Mason University - MA Educational Leadership/Transformation

Additional biographical information

I have lived and taught all over the United States, so I know how different it can be! I'm also a mom, so I always try to think about what the parent end looks like when creating these activities. My husband, daughter, and 2 dogs now reside near sunny Phoenix, Arizona.
