All 16 winter olympic sports listed and students are asked to find a Canadian athlete for each sport. Once done, students are asked to do pick an athlete, do a little research and write three sentences about said athlete. Extension: students could look-up athletes from a different country. Perfect for Core French and French Immersion classes. No prep! Students will need access to the internet to complete sheet.

Grade 5: Ontario Math curriculum No prep! Perfect for early finishers, form of assessment, supply teacher activity! Students read through nine different prompts and draw what they read. Prompts include creating and labelling: acute, right and obtuse triangles/ angles as well as equilateral, isosceles and scalene triangles. I had success using this product with some reluctant online learners. The template was easy for them to complete. I could also highlight what boxes needed to be completed until a preferred task could be chosen. This also could be used a model for you and your students to complete together and then they could create their own research points (famous YouTubers from said city...) and or use this as a fill in the blank! 1 page hand-out of 20 vocabulary words. Topic: equipment needed for winter sports. Obviously the list is not exhaustive but a good starting off point. I'm using mine for my Winter Olympics unit. Vocabulary word is given with a space above for students to either draw the piece of equipment or write down in another language what they mean. Can be done as a class with teacher providing clues or independently: students using appropriate resources to find out the definition.

Word search. Verbs in their infinitive form are hidden. Clues are the verbs used in a sentence. Students have to figure out what verb they are looking for. Very basic: great for younger French Immersion classes or older students in Core French. Both "avoir" and "être" are used. 16 verbs in total. Extension: students could write their own sentences, translate the clue sentences, etc.

Donne-moi 5: a timed challenge to have students work on "le passe compose". I gave my grade 8 Core French students 5 minutes to complete as many questions as they could. They then exchanged papers with a classmate and we did a whole class correction. Papers were then handed-in to me so I could take note of who's "got it" and who is still "working on it". Quick little form for assessment. See if your grade seven students understand the difference between pure substances and mixtures. I used this with my special education students with great success. A one page dialogue between two friends talking about what they did the night before using passé composé. A good resource to have to get students talking in French, looking for passé composé and or using as a model to allow students to create their own text. Perfect for a Core French setting.

A journal page for your young learners. Students are asked to think about their favourite day and to use their 5 senses to describe it. Sentence started are included, "I saw...". Top of page is reserved for students to draw a picture. In the instructions, students are also asked to label their picture with the 5 senses.
