Algebra 1 or 2 Example Syllabus

A different way for students to look at the Expectations and Policies of the classroom. The students really enjoyed the change! It also helped that everything was separated by category so when I asked follow-up questions, they were easy to find! ****Unless you are Microsoft Word savvy, you'll want to make sure you stay within the margins of the boxes. Otherwise, they will move around and change size. Then you'll have to fix it back to line up. It can be difficult if you don't work with Micr

Introduction to Inequalities Notes (Foldable)

This is a notes pages for an Intro to Inequalities. The students would fold both sides in and cut the middle to make 4 doors (Directions Included) I used this in my Interactive Notebook. The kids really enjoyed the change from writing all the time and loved the organization it brought. I also included the Answer Key. It's a little sloppy because they are my notes that I used during the lesson. FYI: The second page is upside down so that when you print, it prints right side up. PS...Don't f

Solving Equations Scavenger Hunt

A fun way for students to practice solving Quadratic equations At the bottom of each problem in the scavenger hunt, I included a Mathematician's name and a number (This was helpful in case a student made a mistake, I was able to see which problem the mistake occurred). It was a great conversation opener and I even ended up offering Extra Credit for students who wanted to research them! The problems used, post-up problems & the Key is included. Students should be given one of the problems to b

Factoring Quadratic Expressions (a=1) Bingo!

This is a cool way to play Bingo with your students without needing multiple sheets. The students will create their own!! This is awesome because they can't say you cheated ;-) The answers are at the bottom of the page and they will place them wherever they want on the sheet. You will give them a problem, they will factor it and then cross out their answer. Some Ways to Play Bingo (If you have other ideas, PLEASE leave them in a comment below!): Once one person wins gets Bingo, game overWhen o

Exponent BINGO

Provides students with a fun way to review Exponent Rules. The last page (Page 6) includes the problems that will the teacher will use for the BINGO game, along with the answers that match them. There are 5 different "boards" for this game so the students will have different sheets to play off of. I find that they have more fun if they pick the board they will play from. By the way, after each problem, I have a student say their answer. If I see too many students mark their sheet after the a

Translating English Into Math Notes

These notes were used in my Algebra 1 and 2 classes where we are currently implementing Interactive Notebooks. The students liked that I had saved them a bunch of writing with this one :-). You could, of course, simply use these notes and treat them as regular notes and have the students write it out old school style. I've taught it both ways and its fine. **Helpful Teacher Comment** Be sure to allow the students to discuss words they think will fall under each Operation category before writ

Simplifying Expressions Scavenger Hunt

This Scavenger Hunt is a great way to review simplifying expressions. There are 15 problems for the students to complete. Cut the sheets in half and distribute them to the students. The problem that they start with does not matter! Print a second set of the cards (cut in half) to post up around the room. Students will complete their problem, then circulate the room to find the card with their answer; then complete that next problem on that card. They will be finished when they get back to the
