Teaching style

I am constantly seeking innovative and engaging methods to captivate my students and enhance their learning experiences across all content areas. I believe that education should be dynamic and interactive, and I strive to create an environment where curiosity and exploration thrive. My teaching style is rooted in the belief that students learn best through visual and hands-on experiences. I enjoy incorporating visual aids, interactive activities, and real-world applications into my lessons to make learning more tangible and relatable. By allowing students to engage with the material in multiple ways, I aim to foster a deeper understanding of concepts and promote critical thinking skills. I am dedicated to creating a classroom atmosphere where every student feels empowered to participate actively in their learning journey. Through collaboration, creativity, and exploration, I encourage my students to take ownership of their education and develop a lifelong love for learning.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Over my 30 years of teaching, some of the most meaningful moments haven’t come with trophies or plaques—they’ve come through relationships. I’ve had the honor of teaching multiple siblings in the same family, staying in touch with former students as they grow up, and becoming someone families trust beyond the classroom. I’ve led school-wide PDs on inclusive practices, designed hands-on classroom projects like our student-run Bodega to teach financial literacy, and even co-created a student musical that brought the realities of school life to the stage. These moments—big and small—are what continue to inspire my work.

My own education history

I hold a Master’s in Special Education and a dual certification in Elementary and Moderate Disabilities. I’ve completed specialized training in trauma-informed teaching, restorative justice, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), all of which deeply inform how I create resources that are inclusive, practical, and engaging for all learners.

Additional biographical information

I’ve taught 5th grade in Boston Public Schools for nearly two decades and have a deep passion for supporting students with disabilities, emerging bilinguals, and those navigating trauma. My classroom is a mix of creative chaos, strong relationships, and real-world learning. I started my TpT store to share the resources I was creating late at night—often to fill gaps in the curriculum or make learning more accessible and fun. When I’m not lesson planning, you can find me writing musicals about education, walking my dogs, or laughing with my best friend over Dunkin’ iced coffee.
