About the store
I have 15 years experience in special education, with my specialty, depth of experience, and passion found in launching and developing Adult Transition programs. Having worked with students of all ages through the years, I can truly say that my passion is working with students who are ready to take 12 years of classroom education and generalize their functional academics in a tangible forms, both in the classroom and community setting. Before taking my own classroom, I gained invaluable experience working as a paraeducator in a special day class for four years, after which I transitioned into a role as adaptive PE assistant for three years before obtaining my degree and credentials (Education Specialist: M/M, M/S). I also currently work as an Adjunct Faculty member of Alliant International University, working within the University's Autism Authorization Program.

I wanted to provide this product as a free upload as it has assisted students in my class achieve greater levels of independence and I thought maybe it could do the same for yours! Since I teach a community-based adult transition program, every week our class spends time out in the community working at job sites. At first, I would track their hours and productivity, but after awhile it seemed as though it could be beneficial for them to become bigger stakeholders in the process. So, instead of

This is a great beginning of the year activity, when everyone is still getting to know each other. Whether you are like me and have your students for multiple years, or have them only a year, semester, or trimester, these have proven to be a helpful “welcome back” activity that is low key, provides you with important information, and gets your kids talking. Included is a: Parental InventoryStudent Interest InventorySmall group activity "Getting To Know You," which may be expanded into a brief st

Hello all! Over the years, I have played with a few different formats to gather data for my students and have settled on this as a form that meets most of my needs. I created this for my class this term and have found it to be a helpful guide to point them back to. Make it easy on yourself and download the online Etiquette for DL classrooms to communicate your vision for your class environment and structure. What are some other visual rules/guideline references that you'd like to see?

Teaching style

My style is interactive and dynamic. My students are primarily visual learners and benefit from hands-on experiences, so I try to tailor my teaching to their learning styles.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Seeing students develop greater independence skills (in vocational tasks, in self-advocacy, in mobility training, etc.) over a period of time is such an honor and makes me glad that I chose this profession. I have the honor of having incredible partners in crime: my paras, my fellow educators, my admin, and my students parents. I could not be as effective in educating my students without them!

My own education history

B.S. in Organizational Leadership - Azusa Pacific University (APU) M/M & M/S Education Specialist clear credentials - APU M.A. - Special Education (concentration in M/S) - APU
