About the store
I have taught in self-contained classrooms at the first and second grade levels. Teaching reading is my passion, and I have devoted the last 10 years to being a reading teacher for K-3. I worked in several public schools as a reading specialist and now have a private tutoring business. I have a master's degree in Reading Education and am a Dyslexia Therapist having studied the Take Flight program through Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
I starting working as a special education teacher in 2020, and became Academic Lead Teacher for the special education program at my elementary school for two years. I primarily taught 4th grade as an in class support teacher during my years in special education.
I am now serving as the Dyslexia Interventionist for my school.

Teaching style
Creating a lifelong enjoyment of reading and writing is my goal!
Incorporating phonics along with sight word instruction, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing is what I have found makes the most proficient readers and writers. I am also a firm believer that reviewing all concepts taught on a consistent basis provides a firm foundation upon which to build lifelong readers and writers. With games, students become engaged and are reviewing skills while they think they are just enjoying a fun activity. It's a win-win! Giving students stories that they can relate to and the skills to read them teaches them to love reading. Most of my products are created to teach and review phonics and sight words as well as units of study that are engaging and interesting to even the most reluctant reader.
