This writing conventions unit helps students sort different sentences by structure (simple, compound, complex and compound/complex) and by purpose (declarative, exclamatory, imperative, interrogative). Students are introduced to basic sentence structure (subject/verb/object), independent and dependent phrases as well as sentence fragments. There are two review activities and a unit test. All answers are included.
