About the store
We are both teachers of 14 years. The items we post to our store come from our own classrooms, so we know how important high-quality lessons are to you and your students. Thank you for the opportunity to bring our lessons into your classroom.
We have experience in all grades of high school and middle school. We also have vast experiences from previous adventures in elementary school. We are both special education teachers, with certifications in High School Math, Science and English, and have worked in nearly all subject areas with a variety of students.
Since we both teach in different areas our store has a wide array of lessons. You will find many math and english lessons. Denae' has been teaching life skills, work experience, english and social studies classes. During the past few years Patrick has been focused primarily in math including; Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Physics. Therefore, we have some unique lessons that would be difficult to find elsewhere.

Standard Form of Linear Functions - X and Y Intercept Scavenger Hunt (Set of 15)
This 15 poster scavenger hunt requires students to examine the characteristics of linear function graphs. Have students analyze a question and find the graph that matches the information. This scavenger hunt has students c onvert between mixed numbers and improper fractions. During the scavenger hunt, students start at any poster and convert the question to the other form. This activity is a real world application for finding the percent of a number/whole. The "store" is throwing a sale and items are 10, 25, 50 and 75% off. Students walk around the "store" and determine original cost, percent off, new price and amount saved. This activity can be used as an assessment, practice, review or extension activity for finding the percent of a number. A lesson plan is included with store items and note sheet.

Adding and Subtracting Fractions with Unlike Denominators Scavenger Hunt
This scavenger hunt has students practicing adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. All answers are in fraction form. Students can start at whatever poster they want and work around to find the next answer. The whole activity is one giant loop, therefore, they will end up back where they started. Our scavenger hunts are a great way to get students practicing and self-checking. Students get the automatic feedback they need by either finding their answer was correct or not

Clue! Linear Functions - Intercepts, Graphing, Word Problems
A linear function take on the classic game of clue! Can you solve the clues to determine the suspect, accomplice, room and weapon? Students will work through 4 clues: Your students will use knowledge of finding intercepts, word problems in slope-intercept form, word problems in standard form and graphing linear functions. This worksheet is for students to practice writing checks. Scenarios are given and the students need to write the checks appropriately.

Balancing a checkbook and writing checks
This is a multi-layered lesson designed to teach and aid students in writing checks and balancing checkbooks. Students are walked through each step of writing a check and practice on their own. Afterwards, students are lead through the process of balancing a checkbook followed by independent practice. Included in the download are two publisher files for instruction and practice and a powerpoint. The powerpoint can easily be adapted for your lesson but gives the framework for the lessons.

Box and Whiskers Matching
This activity is all about matching a data set to its 5 number summary and box-and-whiskers plot. Students are given 7 sets of data and have to find the 5 number summary and plot that match it. Matching is a great way to have students analyze a bunch of data at one time and look for similarities and differences. Our students love all matching activities we do and as teachers we feel they get a great deal out of doing them!

Gummy Bear Experiment
My students absolutely loved this lesson and learned so much in the process! This experiment is designed to compare what happens to gummy bears when left in 4 different solutions for 48 hours. The experiment was designed to highlight the teaching of the scientific method but can certainly be adapted for other concepts. A matching activity of the scientific method is also included. This set of 20 task cards requires students to demonstrate basic knowledge of linear functions and inequalities. This is a great experiment we've adapted for teaching making quality predictions or hypotheses. Counting Coins Game
This game requires and teaches students to identify 5 pennies equals a nickel, 2 nickels equal a dime and 2 dimes and a nickel equal a quarter.
Directions:
Student rolls a die and takes the same number of pennies as they rolled.
Student places the penny on the board and "trades in" for a nickel at 5 pennies.
At two nickels the student "trades in" for a quarter.
We usually play up to a $1.00 or whomever has the most quarters at the end of time.

Teaching style
We are both teachers who love to get our students up and moving. We do also value the necessity of direct instruction. We use all types of learning styles in our classrooms and differentiate our lessons to meet the needs of all our learners.
