About the store
Hello! I taught one year in 5th grade, 2 years in 4th grade, and recently taught 6 years in 3rd grade before moving to another state with my family and staying home with my children. The most recent school I taught in was a STEM school where we focused on engineering and integrating engineering activities into the different subject areas. I spent half a year substitute teaching across multiple grade levels in several different districts. I currently am tutoring individual students as well as directing the children's ministry program in our local church.

This is a great way to hold your students accountable for their at-home independent reading! There is a reading comprehension strategy activity guide that can go along with each week of reading. They can use the activity guide to practice the comprehension strategy at home independently. I would typically use one sheet per week depending on the comprehension strategy the students were studying in class. Copy multiple pages for a packet or for multiple use.

This is a fun and interactive way to review some basic math skills with your students in the fall to review their prior knowledge. You could also use this to review before the standardized tests given in the spring.

This is a fun way to introduce students to the process of descriptive writing! They can use their own personal mittens or gloves in the winter (or use pictures of mittens or gloves) to create adjectives that will help them write a description piece, pretending they had lost their mittens or gloves and needed help finding them. You can use this as a mini-lesson on figurative language as well.

This is a fun activity to use with your students in the first week of school! It is a way to learn some personal interests quickly as well as create some connections with them. This is also an opportunity for each student to have some time "in the spotlight" in the beginning of the year.

Experience

Teaching style

I am very hands-on with the students. I like to create a challenging yet fun atmosphere. I differentiated my lessons to meet the variety of needs within my classroom.

My own education history

I received my Bachelor Degree from Bethel University in Minnesota and went on to receive my Reading Licensure and partial Masters in Literacy from Saint Mary's University in Minnesota as well before moving to Illinois.

Additional biographical information

I enjoy inspiring children and encouraging them to reach for higher goals. I am always up for creating new resources for any needs that come up in the classroom.
