Uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and punctuation included in both a print and cursive font.

This mini project is a great way to help students track the 11 main events on the road to the American Revolution. Each slide is preformatted to include the date and event with text blocks for your students to include the Description, Cause, and Effect of each event. A simple rubric is included on the final slide to guide students on expectations as they complete their Road to American Revolution. Use this as an ongoing project during the unit or as a review afterwards.

On the first page, reveal each section one at a time to the student. For the first two sections, ask them to name the upper and lowercase letters pictured. For the third section, ask them to tell you the sound the letter makes. As the student correctly names the letters or sound, simply mark them off. On the recording page, you can track ten students OR one student ten times. I track ten students (marking their new letters learned) and use a different colored pen each time, writing the date

Daily Schedule signs help the students recognize what is coming next in their day. I have a Star Student move our clip down the schedule as our day progresses.

Syllable card match-up is a fun way to help students understand how words break into syllables.  In my classroom, I print and cut out a set for students to practice matching up with a partner. They record their answers in their Reading journal, then work together to think up other words to break apart within the same theme.  If time, they can create their own challenge cards for other partners to complete throughout the week. Surrounding our students with print is a great way to help them learn to read, but creating labels with images for your classroom can be very time consuming. Freshen up your classroom decor with a fishbowl alphabet word wall.

Word puzzles were created from a comprehensive set of words from the new HMH Kinder Reading curriculum. 1. Have students cut their new words apart and reassemble in their journal as a way to familiarize themselves with their new words. 2.
