I have 25 years of experience in education. Fifteen years were spent teaching all subject areas in 4th and 5th grade. I have been an Instructional Coach at a Title 1, high-needs school for the last ten years. I make a living researching best practices and supporting teachers at my school as they implement best practices, programs, and high-quality teaching strategies. This document contains 36 Days of Writing for weekly sentence stretching practice. Students are given short, choppy sentences are required to add details to stretch the sentences. The first 9 are simple sentences, the second 9 are compound sentences, the third 9 are complex sentences, and the last 9 are mixed review. Ask them to answer the question differently based on whether they are summarizing, paraphrasing, or quoting. This has helped my students tremendously in understanding the difference!

Teaching style

Student-based, interactive learning is the way to go! Math Manipulatives should be used every day. Students should write every day. Students should share their work with each other every day.
