My own education history

Kenda Lawson, the driving force behind Teaching With OWLS, has an illustrious educational journey that began at Xavier University of Louisiana, majoring in Literature with a minor in Biology. She furthered her academic pursuits at St. Thomas University, earning a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. During her time there, she was not only inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education but also actively contributed to its Coalition for Anti-Racism in Education. With 18 years under her belt dedicated to transforming the educational landscape, Kenda's roles have ranged from a literacy coordinator to a lead teacher. In 2014, her vision and passion led to the co-founding of Owls Education Company, a pioneering edtech firm focusing on curricula and content development for educators and institutions. Kenda's commitment doesn't stop at the classroom door. She's an advocate for creating learning spaces that are both inclusive and equitable. As a captivating speaker, she's graced platforms like Black Educators Rock and the Making Connections Conference, even delivering keynotes for organizations such as the Michigan Association of School Boards. Her insights and foresight in the realm of education have garnered her features in esteemed publications like Entrepreneur and Leaderboard magazines. In every endeavor, Kenda's mission remains unwavering: to empower educators, enabling them to nurture the leaders of tomorrow and create a lasting impact in the world.

Additional biographical information

In my early teaching days, I was struck by the scarcity of instructional materials tailored for secondary, post-secondary, and ESL learners. This led me to craft my own resources, simplifying classroom management and instruction. Encouraged by colleagues to broaden my reach, I'm now excited to bring these materials to the TpT community.
