About the store
Hello and welcome to my page! I’m Amanda Terhune, a teacher, blogger, TpT’er, firefighter wife, mother to three amazing kids, and life-long Oklahoman. From an early age, I always knew I was born to be a teacher. My earliest childhood memories include spending hours in my bedroom, perfecting my teaching skills with my stuffed animals as my students. Following my childhood dreams, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Oklahoma in 2006. If you are a football fan, you may have seen me spinning my flag during OU football games as part of the Pride of Oklahoma colorguard. I was lucky enough to begin my teaching career in the same district I grew up in and was offered a first grade position at the school where I completed my student teaching in Moore, Oklahoma. Teaching first grade, while challenging, is incredibly rewarding, especially witnessing how much students grow both independently and academically throughout the year. I firmly believe first grade curriculum builds the crucial foundation that every child needs to grow and thrive as a student - ultimately preparing them for a bright academic future. My passion for curriculum led me to create creative and fun resources for not only my own classroom, but for my fellow teachers. In 2011, I started a teaching blog to share what I was doing in my classroom with other first-grade teachers. That same year, I opened my Teachers Pay Teachers store after I was encouraged by a teammate to share my creations. My Life Outside of Education: In 2010, I married my high school sweetheart, Nick, who is a fire captain. Like so many, we struggled with fertility and it took more than six years before we welcomed our first child, Landon in 2016. Once I was finally pregnant, I decided to take a leave of absence from teaching to focus on my health and raising my son. In June 2020, we were blessed to welcome our twin girls, Eva and Ella. If I’m not running after my three children, you are likely to find me behind my laptop, continuing to follow my passion of education by creating resources for all of you! I love connecting with other teachers, sharing ideas, and seeing how you use my resources in your own classrooms. Be sure to follow me on Teachers Pay Teachers, Pinterest, TikToc, Instagram, and Facebook for more tips and ideas. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at amandaterhune1@hotmail.com.
