Use this paragraph writing rubric for your students in grades 2-6! The rubric is written in student friendly language and can be used for self, peer or teacher assessment of paragraph writing. The rubric alines to the Ontario Achievement Chart.
This document follows the gradual release model of responsibility. Included is a modelled/shared writing task and also a guided template for helping young students write their own compare and contrast paragraphs. It is recommended that you use a simple venn diagram to brainstorm and organize ideas before completing the modelled, shared and guided writing tasks here.
This rubric is double sided (two pages). One rubric assesses students’ researching skills (reading expectations) and the other assesses students’ writing skills (writing expectations).
Both rubrics aline with the Ontario Achievement Chart and include space for feedback and reflection.
Both rubrics could be used for either self, peer or teacher assessment.
This rubric assesses students’ ability to use voice in their writing. It can be used when writing for a variety of purposes, audiences and forms. Self, peer and teacher rubrics are included in this document. Each assessment includes space for reflection and written feedback.
