These Common Core aligned writing activities are based on the book Leo the Late Bloomer. There is a beginning-middle-end writing piece, how the character changes, favorite part of the story, making a connection writing prompt, and a nonfiction writing to use with a lion book included. There are simple pages as well as colorful ones to choose from. I also have a freebie cutting and coloring activity for bulletin boards listed separately on the site.

We read the book by Frank Asch and brainstormed what we might do if we were the wind. Students were then asked to write one or two sentences and illustrate what they would do if they were the wind. I've included one page with a starter and one blank to differentiate. This can be used in a literacy center or as whole group writing.

This is a fun, self-checking review game for the end of the year. Students hunt around the room for the answers to problems that they have to solve. If an answer can't be found students will know something is wrong and they'll need to look at the problem again. You can have students work alone or in pairs or groups. Every group starts at a different card so students will be spread out around the room. Answer Key is included.

This scavenger hunt game makes reviewing fun before an expressions quiz or just as extra practice. Students work independently or in pairs to solve expressions located around the room or the building. Simply randomly place the cards in different locations and monitor students while they work! It's self correcting too since the answers are located around the room. Students hunt for the answer and then solve the problem on the new card. An answer key is also included.
