This mini-unit combines ELA and science by using the picture book Oil Spill! By Melvin Berger and the True Book The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill by Peter Benoit, however any books on the topic can work. I’ve included a differentiated graphic organizer, short response questions and one extended response to be used with the readings and have included an answer key.

This file contains math practice worksheets and quizzes for the 5th grade common core curriculum. Topics include all aspects of place value, multiplication, division, metric and customary conversions, order of operations, and writing expressions. Answer keys are also included. This cute activity fits right in with my CCLS writing activities to accompany a Leo the Late Bloomer read aloud. Students can reflect on how they have bloomed throughout the school year just like Leo, and can decorate their own flower. It makes a great spring bulletin board or classroom and door decoration! These sheets will be helpful for those of us who need to create vocabulary lessons for Common Core Tier 2 words. There are five words selected from the text and require students to illustrate, list synonyms, and create a sentence using the new word. It can be used as part of a read aloud where new vocabulary is the focus. All pages can be edited.

Use this workstation to help build color word recognition. Simply laminate all pages and cut out crayons and cards to use with the work mat. It can be differentiated by including the crayons with color words written on them. Students can match the crayon to the color word to help build recognition. When they become comfortable with the words, the crayons can be replaced with just the words and color circle page. Students can then use plastic letters to build, and finally, write the words on

This file helps to reinforce letters taught by having students search for the particular letter among others, and then practice writing it. Every letter of the alphabet is included. I didn't include dotted letters since districts use different font and formation styles however, if you contact me I can add it. The worksheets can be used as classwork or homework. Art work by scrappin doodles.

I use this as a workstation activity after introducing several word families. I have included some of the poems created by the class, a workstation instruction card, worksheet printable, word family ending cards, and beginning consonant cards. I have left a few cards blank for adding your own beginning sounds and word family endings.

This is a book report form that can be edited to suit your needs. My students had a blast creating their own "menu" while reporting on a book that they read. It was originally created as part of our Parents as Reading Partners program contest, and was a big hit while coinciding with our 50s diner theme for the contest. I use this to create a Valentine keepsake for my kindergarteners. I print out this cover on white cardstock and let them date and decorate it. I then add construction paper or blank cardstock pages so that my little ones can glue or tape all of their valentines in and always remember their frst Valentine's Day in school.

Students can view fall words, form them using your own magnetic letters or the provided cut-out letters, and then create sentences by first tracing the words in the sentence and then cutting out the words and gluing them in the correct order. This can be printed out on cardstock and laminated, or used as a worksheet on regular paper. I can also add different sentences if you'd like.
