Experience

Plug-and-play secondary ELA resources for reading workshop, accountability, and standards-based grading — built and classroom-tested by an Ohio ELA teacher with 24+ years of experience. For three years, I served on the Ohio AIR ELA Content Committee, where I gained firsthand insight into state testing design, question structures, and standards alignment. That experience directly informs my test prep and skill-based resources, helping students practice the skills that truly matter—without overteaching or busywork. All of the resources in my store are: ➡️ Teacher-tested in real secondary classrooms ➡️ Designed to be low-prep and easy to implement ➡️ Created to support reading workshop, writing instruction, and student accountability If you’re looking for plug-and-play ELA lessons, reading accountability tools, or standards-aligned skill practice, you’re in the right place.

Teaching style

My teaching style is rooted in reading and writing workshop, with a strong focus on student accountability, skill-based instruction, and standards-aligned assessment. I believe students grow most when they have choice in what they read and write, paired with clear expectations and consistent feedback. In my classroom, I use reading workshop routines to build stamina, deepen comprehension, and support character analysis across any novel or text. My lessons emphasize transferable ELA skills—such as characterization, evidence-based responses, and written reflection—rather than one-off assignments tied to a single text. I am also actively working through the journey of transforming my classroom into a standards-based grading system. This has shaped how I design my resources: assignments are built around clear learning targets, simple rubrics, and repeatable routines that allow students to demonstrate mastery over time. My approach values: 🌟 Low-prep workshop lessons that fit into real class periods 🌟 Reading and writing accountability tools that work with any text 🌟 Flexible resources for whole class, small group, and independent work 🌟 Standards-based feedback that supports growth, not just grades Every resource I create is designed to help teachers run effective reading and writing workshops while maintaining manageable grading systems and meaningful data on student progress.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, along with a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology focused on K–12 and adult learners. My formal education emphasizes instructional design, literacy development, assessment, and technology-enhanced learning, all of which inform the way I design classroom resources and professional learning experiences. In addition to my degrees, I am committed to ongoing professional learning, particularly in the areas of reading and writing workshop, standards-based grading, and effective instructional systems for both students and teachers. My background in adult learning theory shapes how I create resources and training materials that are clear, practical, and immediately usable. This combination of classroom experience, graduate-level training, and continued professional growth allows me to design resources that support meaningful instruction, manageable assessment, and sustainable teaching practices.
