Experience

I am an experienced social studies teacher with a passion for education and making learning accessible for all. Over the years, I have taught 4th through 8th-grade students in Title I schools in Texas, focusing on Texas history, U.S. history, and world cultures. As a wife and mom of two, I understand the importance of creating meaningful connections and fostering curiosity in young minds. I thrive on developing and sharing educational materials that are easy to implement and help students grasp challenging concepts. My goal is to empower fellow educators with tools that make teaching engaging and impactful while promoting a deeper understanding of history and culture.

Teaching style

My teaching style is centered on creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences for students. I believe that visuals are powerful tools to capture attention and spark curiosity, so I integrate maps, images, charts, and other visual aids into my lessons to make history and culture come alive. Equally important, I strive to help students make connections between the material we study and their everyday lives. By linking historical events and cultural topics to their own experiences, I encourage students to see the relevance of what they’re learning and foster a deeper understanding of the world around them. My goal is to create a classroom environment where students feel inspired, connected, and empowered to explore the past and its impact on their present and future.

My own education history

My journey into education was an unexpected but deeply fulfilling path. I hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, but my passion for teaching emerged while substitute teaching during my college years. That experience sparked a love for working with students and ignited my desire to make a difference in the classroom. I pursued my alternative teaching certification for grades 4-8 and began my career as a social studies teacher, where I discovered my talent for connecting with students and making learning meaningful. After 12 years of teaching, I returned to the college classroom, and earned my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction to deepen my knowledge and further refine my ability to support both students and fellow educators. This blend of real-world experience, practical training, and advanced study continues to shape my approach to teaching, allowing me to create impactful lessons that resonate with students and prepare them for success.
