Math Workshop Student Binder

I have recently implemented a math workshop style for my classroom. Kids rotate to stations after a mini lesson and finally come back to reflect on their work. Kids record their learning target daily and reflect on their math in writing daily! This has greatly helped me organize workshop, help children stay accountable of their learning, and add that reflection/writing piece that is missing from Everyday Math! There is also a sheet that has students record their pre and post test scores and set

This is a power point presentation that will take you step by step through how to manage an effective classroom mini-economy. A mini-economy is an amazing way to integrate financial literacy, behavior management, 21st learning skills, and differentiate for classroom needs. I'd be lost without my classroom economy. I have presented this power point twice for in-services in the Milwaukee area! Enjoy -- please stop back for printables to use in your economy!

About the store

Experience

When I first began teaching, 7 years ago I taught in a second grade bilingual classroom. After two years in second grade, I moved to a suburban district where I taught 4th grade for 3 years before beginning a 4th-5th grade looping classroom.

Teaching style

I love to make connections with students. I enjoy getting to know each one on an individual basis and use their interests to motivate them. I believe in bringing real world connections into the classroom. Most importantly I try to inspire and motivate my students to be considerate, kind and interested in serving others. I am challenged each day to provide time for collaboration, creativity and critical thinking throughout our day!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I won our school districts honor of a "Class Act" teacher in 2011. I also had the honor of presenting my mini economy to a group of teachers through Economics Wisconsin in 2011. I am SMART certified trainer and work to train teachers in our district on effective use of SMART technology in their classrooms.

My own education history

I graduated from Marquette University with a joint degree in Elementary Education and Spanish literature and language. My degree from Marquette has a strong concentration in social justice due to the Jesuit vision of the university. In 2009 I completed my Masters degree in the cultural foundations of education. Since then I have earned 9 other credits concentrated on topics such as parent involvement, technology and financial literacy!

Additional biographical information

I enjoy a quiet life in the company of my two dogs -- Berkeley and Ginger here in Wisconsin. I like to think teaching is in my blood as I come from a long line of effective teachers!
