Sound charts are created to show choices of sounds for each phonological sound. They cover all essential knowledge needed to decode and spell words. They are developmental and align to patterns and relationships of vowels and consonants, similar to Words Their Way. (e.g. CVCe, CVVC, CV) Sound Charts are in a PowerPoint form so can be used in daily repetition on Smartboards or made into charts. These slides can be used as a PowerPoint or made into classroom charts. They teach the rules about how to break into syllables and rules about adding prefixes and suffixes. They can be revised daily. They incorporate the formal language about consonant and vowels, open and closed syllables and whether vowels or long or short. (e.g. spi/der- open - long) Reminders on how to break into syllables- Hand under chin and say word. Chin drops with every vowel sound and every syllable has a vowel. Count
