Capitalize on the excitement of the holiday season by using the idea of gift giving to teach students about budgeting and spreadsheets. Student select a person for whom they will pick out gifts, using a sales flyer. They use the budgeting spreadsheet to record the gift and the price, and the embedded formulas help the students not to go over budget. Challenge your students to see who can get the closest to the $150 budget without going over!
