I believe that all children are unique and deserve a safe, positive learning environment where they can grow physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. It is my role to guide my students in the learning process and encourage each one to express themselves, accept themselves for who they are, and understand it's okay that everyone is different. I believe there are several important factors that determine the success of a teacher in the classroom. For example, I will hold each of my students to the highest expectations possible without giving up. I also believe that 21st century skills in technology must be incorporated into lessons to enhance learning.
In addition to technology, students must also have hands-on activities in order to promote curiosity, creative thinking and abstract reasoning. I believe children should have choices in learning and feel a part of the learning process such as having a choice between different types of projects to complete. Lastly, I will demonstrate a positive attitude and an open mind and heart so I can truly inspire and encourage these traits in my students as well. My role as a teacher is to accept each child for who they are and provide each of these beneficial factors in my classroom. My ultimate goal is for my students to flourish and thrive into bright young adults.
