Get ready to have yummy fun! This project is perfect for summer brain stretching and all year long. It may be adapted for small groups/classes, whether home-school, tutoring, classroom or simply parent-child-just-for-fun! Students will learn the ins and outs of shopping on a budget while enjoying a creative and rewarding experience. Opportunities for interaction/discussion/problem solving abound with this project. Included are extension activities and higher-level challenge activities.
Have fun and munch on chocolate bars (optional) with this fractions task! (Brown construction paper chocolate bars will work well.) Kids will draw and label picture models, shade-in fractional amounts, determine equivalent fractions, determine which fractional amounts are greatest and least, add fractions, calculate cost, and write to explain.
