About the store
I am currently a fifth grade teacher in the Salt Lake area. I have fourteen years of experience working in education. In my career, I have worked as a teacher of grades four, five, and six, as a Title 1 Reading Resource Teacher for grades two through six; as an aid in kindergarten through eighth grade; as a summer school teacher for grades three through eight; and as an after school program assistant with preschool through sixth grade. I've been lucky enough to have worked in schools in Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Massachusetts - in rural, suburban, and urban settings. Although I've worked in public schools, charter schools, Catholic schools, and independent private schools, my career has been devoted to Title One schools. I am licensed to teach multiple subject areas from pre-k to eighth grade, as well as ESL for grades kindergarten to twelve. My focus in my career stems from a passion for social justice. I believe a strong education is the basis of change in the world. I emphasize supporting English Language Learners and marginalized populations to build up my students to be as strong as they possibly can be. My goal is that the resources I share here can help others with a similar mission.

Teaching style

I love to have my students do project-based learning. I get them up and moving and interacting with each other as much as possible. All of my lessons are useable with English language learners to help them gain skills with reading, writing, speaking, or listening. I also incorporate technology and the arts into lessons frequently.

Additional biographical information

Your purchase is helping me pay for my brand new sewer line, daycare for my two-year-old, and food for my Tomagotchi. My name is Kat Pham. I am currently a fifth grade teacher based out of Salt Lake City. I have been a classroom teacher for ten years and have worked in schools for fourteen years. I have worked with every grade from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in public, charter, independent, and Catholic schools. What I've come to learn is that regardless of age and regardless of school setting, all children want to learn from someone who values them shows them respect. I grew up in a small town in southern Puget Sound, Washington but my family now lives in Washington, Idaho, and California. I've lived and taught in Oregon, Massachusetts, and Utah. Beyond the classroom, I am an avid baker, active hiker, frequent camper, and budding traveler. I live in a 100-year-old house with my husband, my toddler son, and two cats. I'm currently working to pay for a massive remodel and restoration project on our house. Your purchase goes directly towards those efforts and towards supporting my family.
