Experience

I have successfully completed 5 years in the elementary school system. I have experience in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade. My heart belongs in 2nd grade!

Teaching style

My teaching approach is rooted in a hands-on, student-centered model. I believe that students learn best when they are actively engaged and able to apply concepts in real-world contexts. I prioritize creating an interactive classroom environment where students are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and collaborate with one another. By emphasizing practical, hands-on activities, I aim to foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills that students can carry with them beyond the classroom. My goal is to ensure each student feels empowered to take ownership of their learning journey, while providing the guidance and support they need to succeed.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have received extensive training in highly effective teacher evaluations, which has greatly enhanced my teaching practices and commitment to continuous improvement. Through these evaluations, I have gained valuable feedback and insights, allowing me to refine my instructional methods, student engagement strategies, and classroom management techniques. Additionally, I have had the rewarding opportunity to mentor a new teacher, sharing my knowledge and experience to support their professional growth. This mentorship has been an incredibly fulfilling experience, as I’ve been able to guide them in navigating the challenges of the classroom, while encouraging their development as educators. I’m passionate about fostering a collaborative learning environment where teachers support one another in striving for excellence.

My own education history

I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, focusing on Language Arts. During my time at MSU, I successfully double majored in just four years, earning an additional degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. This comprehensive academic journey allowed me to develop a deep understanding of both the foundational aspects of elementary education and the specialized skills needed to support diverse learners, including those with unique educational needs. My experience at MSU has equipped me with a well-rounded approach to teaching that blends literacy, early childhood development, and inclusive education practices.
