Teaching style
My teaching style is rooted in compassion, creativity, and connection. With years of experience in early childhood and elementary education, I’ve learned that the best learning happens when children feel seen, supported, and inspired. I approach every lesson with a blend of structure and imagination, encouraging curiosity while providing the guidance kids need to grow in confidence and skill.
I believe in hands-on learning, storytelling, and visual expression to make abstract ideas come to life. Whether I’m designing a worksheet, writing a book, or creating a classroom activity, my goal is always to make learning meaningful, engaging, and joyful. I strive to build a love of learning that lasts a lifetime — one creative moment at a time.
Awards & shining teacher moments
Over the course of my teaching career, I was honored with several Teacher of the Year nominations and received heartfelt recognition from both colleagues and parents for my dedication to student growth. One of my most meaningful moments was when a struggling reader in my class became the top reader of the semester — not just in skill, but in confidence. I’ve had students return years later to thank me for making learning feel joyful and safe. From leading school-wide literacy nights to mentoring new teachers, my proudest achievements always came from the classroom — where the smallest breakthroughs often made the biggest impact.
My own education history
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, which laid the foundation for my 30-year career as a classroom teacher. My passion for understanding young learners also led me to earn a Ph.D. in Child Psychology, deepening my ability to support students’ academic and emotional development. This combination of hands-on teaching experience and advanced education has allowed me to create resources that are not only educational but also developmentally appropriate and deeply engaging for children.

Outside the classroom and publishing world, I’ve always been drawn to the art of storytelling and design. Whether sketching ideas for a new coloring book or piecing together visual themes for a learning resource, I find joy in blending educational purpose with artistic expression. I’m inspired by nature, vintage aesthetics, and everyday moments of curiosity. My workspace is usually filled with watercolor swatches, sticky notes, and the occasional burst of laughter when a quirky idea strikes. It’s this mix of creativity and reflection that fuels my drive to keep creating — not just to teach, but to spark wonder.
