Hi, I’m Brandi Varnell—a registered nurse with 29+ years of clinical nursing experience and also a high school CTE teacher specializing in Health Science, Sports Medicine, Anatomy & Physiology, and Family Health. Teaching style

My teaching style blends clinical precision with student-centered engagement. I believe in purposeful instruction, real-world connections, and fostering integrity, critical thinking, and curiosity in every learner. I teach with high expectations, a sense of humor, and a deep respect for the power of real-world learning. My classroom is structured, reflective, and rooted in the belief that students rise when the work is meaningful.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Over the past decade, I’ve been honored for both student impact and instructional leadership. I was named National Rural Teacher of the Year (2019–2020) by the National Rural Education Association and nominated as a Regional Teacher of the Year (2024) for my work in building a rigorous CTE health science pathway in a rural district. I’m proud to serve as a WA HOSA chapter advisor, leading students to state and national recognition in healthcare leadership. In 2022, I received the WASA Award for Student Leadership, reflecting my commitment to empowering students to take initiative, serve their communities, and pursue healthcare careers with purpose.
