Outside of the traditional school setting I have explored many other disciplines including hypnotherapy, NLP, and a variety of alternative energy/body therapies. My personal favorites are EMF Balancing Technique and working with the Akashic Records. I have been exploring EFT (tapping) in my classroom this year.
I have authored a book, created guided meditation CDs, and hosted an internet radio show. I was also a one to one provider and a Resilient Educator facilator using programs developed through the Institute of Heartmath. (I get bored easily and like to learn new things!).
I have always believed we must address ourselves and our students as WHOLE BEINGS. It is imperative that we address the brain state (emotional state, stress response) BEFORE we can even attempt to teach them any other content. Trying to teach math facts to a student who is dysregulated is like trying to pour water into a container that has a lid on it. It just doesn't work. No matter how many times you pour it, it isn't going to get in that container until you remove the barrier.
That is what the educational neuroscience is all about (and all of the other things I mentioned, too!)
