Experience

I have taught 3rd and 4th grade ELAR, K-5 reading intervention, and currently K-5 special education, mostly focusing on students with dyslexia. I have worked my entire career in Title I schools, serving students from diverse backgrounds and high need.

Teaching style

I love getting my students talking about the topics that we are studying and involved and engaged with every lesson. I like getting kids up and moving frequently, but this only works when solid routines and procedures are set in place. I think it is important to know your students' interests and what will inspire them to do their best!

My own education history

I graduated in the spring of 2020 with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies. (So yes, my entire teaching career has been nothing but COVID!) I have a Master's in Reading and am currently pursuing my Educational Diagnostician certification.

Additional biographical information

I was that annoying girl in school who took things way too seriously and wanted nothing more than to be the teacher's pet. 15 years later, I am living my childhood dream and working with kids who make me laugh, cry, and shake my head daily!
