About the store

Experience

I enjoyed my first 5 years in the field of special education teaching in an autism middle school classroom. I have been providing classroom support to educators of special needs students for the last 6 years as an autism specialist and as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Teaching style

My focus as a classroom teacher was on proactive strategies to reduce or eliminate problem behavior and to enhance and increase appropriate adaptive and academic behaviors.

My own education history

- Bachelor's in Cross-Categorical Special education from Armstrong Atlantic State University (now part of Georgia Southern University). -Master's of Education in Severe Disabilities from Peabody College of Education at Vanderbilt University.

Additional biographical information

My interest over the years has shifted from a focus on academics to growing a keen interest in facilitating a pathway for individuals with learning differences to not only gain job skills, but use their individual strengths to promote those job skills. In the future, I would like to grow a business that will take individual strengths that are often overlooked in the school environment and use them to grow job and leisure skills that will ultimately lead to a happier and more fulfilling life.
