I have taught high school math since 2004. I have taught Geometry, Trignometry, Statistics, AP Statistics, and Algebra II. Prior to teaching, I was a Mechanical Engineer for 7 years.
Even though I am a high school math teacher, I have several different versions of this game. This is one I use at the very beginning of a course as a quick activity or when I need to fill a few minutes with something light and fun. This would be an ideal activity for practicing basic math facts in elementary up into middle school.
To play, each student gets a card or two depending on the size of the class. The student with #1 reads his card and the student who has the answer to the question

I know I have gotten the most satisfaction from my education when I have given it my all and done my best. Sometimes that means stretching yourself and getting out of your comfort zone. I expect my students to do the same so they can feel that same sense of accomplishment.
