Teaching style

I am primarily a Music Learning Theory (MLT) educator, but I am eclectic in my approaches to music education.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I received an Excellence in Teaching award from my school in 2012. I was awarded a semester-long sabbatical in 2016. I am a music clinician and enjoy meeting fellow teachers at music conferences around the Midwest.

My own education history

I earned B.M. and M.M. degrees in Piano Pedagogy with a concentration in early childhood music from Michigan State University. I've taken certification levels with MLT/GIML, introduction coursework with Orff-Schulwerk, and workshop courses with High/Scope. I've had the honor of learning directly under Edwin E. Gordon and Phyllis Weikart.

Additional biographical information

I live in the Detroit area with my husband, three children (aka, our Sicilian Shamrocks), and goldendoodle. Our lives are consumed with music and travel baseball.
