Experience

Welcome! I’m Sarah — a former Special Education Teacher and founder of The Holland Guide Advocacy. Every product is rooted in my real-world experience — and inspired by Welcome to Holland, the poem that reminds us all to embrace this journey with grace and purpose. 🧩 Let's make special education truly inclusive — together.

Teaching style

My teaching style is rooted in inclusion, self-determination, and lifelong connection. As a former special educator turned advocate, I believe all students deserve meaningful access to education in the least restrictive environment. I design resources that foster collaboration, promote life skills, and empower both families and educators. Every tool I create supports student-centered learning, strong school-home communication, and a commitment to inclusive practices that truly make a difference.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was honored to be named the 2024 Special Education Teacher of the Year by the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) in recognition of my dedication to inclusive education and advocacy.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Grand Canyon University, a Master’s degree in Special Education from California State University San Marcos, and a Certificate in Disability Law and Advocacy from the University of San Diego. This academic foundation has shaped both my classroom teaching and my work as an advocate, equipping me to create practical, user-friendly resources that help bridge the gap between families and educators in the IEP process.

Additional biographical information

After years in the classroom, I founded The Holland Guide Advocacy to extend my support beyond the school setting. Inspired by the poem "Welcome to Holland," my advocacy work focuses on guiding families through the complexities of special education with empathy and expertise. Through personalized consulting and resource development, I aim to empower parents and educators alike to champion the best outcomes for their children and students.
