Track your student's progress with letter identification, letter writing, and letter sounds! I use a different colored highlighter every time I assess so that I can visually see and show improvement. This is one of my must-have tools for the beginning of the school year! I have families fill it out during Meet the Teacher, and I also send it home in new students’ take-home folders. "Este es nuestro lugar favorito" Use different brightly colored paper and then cut out the letters. I used them against black butcher paper with some rainbow polka dots. Laminated, I've used this multiple school years. It's so cute, I wish I had a picture!

Teaching style

I believe that just as important as academics—if not more so—is making sure students feel safe, valued, and like they truly belong in the classroom. I teach my students that we’re all different, and that those differences are something to be respected and celebrated. Kindness and respect for one another are at the core of everything we do. I also encourage them to try new and challenging things, reminding them that it’s okay to make mistakes—that’s how we grow. Above all, I want my students to know they are loved, their voices matter, and they are an important part of our classroom community.
