About the store
I have served in education since 1998 and have experience in variety of roles including teacher, instructional coach, reading interventionist, trainer, and consultant. I completed my undergraduate degree at Sam Houston State University in 1998 and obtained my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Texas in Arlington in 2008. I taught first grade for eight years before moving into a reading specialist/instructional coaching position. After eleven years on campuses, I spent 7 years at the second largest Educational Service Center in the state of Texas serving first as an English Language Arts Consultant, then Program Coordinator for Literacy Services. While there, I developed and provided training in K-12 literacy for teachers and instructional coaches in public, private, and charter schools. My expertise is in balanced literacy, instructional coaching, and providing intervention in reading and writing. I am passionate about the importance of coaching teachers in their craft and providing them with tools to help every student succeed.

Reading Goal Cards

These cards are intended to be used to help students understand their reading progress in a more authentic way. Rather than just knowing a level of a book, students and teachers can use these cards to aid in making better book selections and helping parents understand the reading behaviors and skills their child is working to develop. Each card is written in student-friendly language that summarizes key information about text and reader characteristics for guided reading levels A-Z.
