Experience

I am an experienced math educator and instructional coach with a passion for helping teachers make math make sense. Over the years, I’ve worked with students who struggled deeply with foundational concepts and helped transform their understanding through clear, visual, and practical teaching strategies. Now, I focus on supporting teachers—because when teachers truly understand the math, students succeed faster and with confidence. I specialize in breaking down complex concepts into simple, teachable methods that work for all learners. I have served as a classroom teacher, curriculum specialist, assistant principal and Director of Federal Programs and Exceptional Children.

Teaching style

My teaching style is conceptual, visual, and confidence-driven. I believe: Often students don’t struggle because math is hard… they struggle because it wasn’t taught clearly. Teachers absolutely don’t lack effort… they often lack the right tools and explanations. I focus on: 1. Building deep understanding (not just procedures) 2. Using visual models like number lines and representations 3. Making math make sense before expecting mastery 4. Helping students win early to build confidence My resources are designed to bring clarity and strengthen teacher confidence, resulting in improved student achievement.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been recognized for my contributions to mathematics education, including receiving a plaque for my service with the South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics. In addition, I supported a middle school in improving their mathematics performance, contributing to measurable gains in SC READY math scores. My greatest reward, however, is seeing both teachers and students grow in confidence and understanding—because when instruction improves, achievement follows.

My own education history

I hold a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics.
