The Math Genie

This chart is to make it easier for students to see that once their ten frame is filled with 10 ones, you can regroup it and change it out for a rod and add the rod to the tens place.

Students justify why a number does not belong with the other set. There is no right or wrong answer as long as they accurately justify their reasoning why a number does not belong. The goal is to get your students talking mathematically, making relationships with numbers, and strengthen their mathematical understanding.
