About the store
Hi there, I'm Mei! I have been working in Special Education for almost 10 years now in a range of roles (i.e., assistant teacher, head teacher, academic specialist, math specialist) across different school types with diverse groups of learners ranging from general education to moderate and severe special needs in substantially separate classrooms and schools. I primarily focus on math but keep an eye out for my reading and writing resources as well! A large chunk of my time has been spent working with grade levels ranging from K-2 and 3-11, and with students with a variety of learning, behavioral, and therapeutic needs.

Experience

Hi there, I'm Mei! I have been working in Special Education for almost 10 years now in a range of roles (i.e., assistant teacher, head teacher, academic specialist, math specialist) across different school types with diverse groups of learners ranging from general education to moderate and severe special needs in substantially separate classrooms and schools. I primarily focus on math but keep an eye out for my reading and writing resources as well! A large chunk of my time has been spent working with grade levels ranging from K-2 and 3-11, and with students with a variety of learning, behavioral, and therapeutic needs.

Teaching style

My teaching style is based in a hands on guided approach based in real world application and finding a method that works for each individual student and helping them meet their goals in the best modality for them. My instructional focus with my students is growing independence in math tasks by breaking down multistep tasks into more manageable chunks.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelors of the Arts in Sociology from the Brandeis University with a minor in educational policy and Elementary Education (1-5) and a Masters of Education in both Moderate Special Education (Prek-8th) and Severe Special Education (Birth-22) from Boston University.

Additional biographical information

When I'm not building math materials to meet the needs of all learners, I spend most of my time either at home with my husband and cat. You can also find me hitting the ski slopes, crocheting, drawing, or doing my friends nails! I've always loved math and realized many people had a hard time finding resources that were accessible to all students or finding different ways of explaining processes that their students weren't connecting with.
