3rd Grade Elapsed Time Word Problems!

Created by
The Pacer Patch
These 10 original word problems deal with elapsed time, and are formatted in a deck-style set. The problems align to CCSS 3.MD.1. I usually cut these questions out, and then allow partners to choose cards one at a time, solve the problems, and then check one another's work. They work to great effect! These problems could also be used for a Scoot activity, small groups, or used as an assessment! If you would like these questions in a more basic, quiz-style format, please message me and I'll send

Give each student a clock, then allow them to find their match! This is a fabulous activity to use as a review, or as an appetizer before another time lesson! 30 cards will allow you to play the game several times! This activity aligns with CCSS standard 3.MD.1. About the store

Experience

I spent the last three years teaching third grade in North Carolina. I am currently teaching third grade in Richmond, Virginia.

Teaching style

I'm all about challenging my students - encouraging them to think critically, work diligently, and to find a personal sense of fulfillment in learning new things! I like to have my students move, play games, and work in groups during my instruction, because I find that it keeps them excited, yet on-task.

My own education history

Over the course of my K-12 education, I learned a great deal about how I wanted to work as a teacher through how I was treated as a student. I learned in fifth grade that it can make a life-long impression on a student when you let them know that you think about them outside of the classroom. (My teacher sent me a postcard over our winter break, and I still have it to this day.) In third grade, I learned that the worst feeling in the world is to spend time with a teacher who doesn't acknowledge your presence in their classroom. I found in high school that being constantly challenged in a variety of instructional formats kept me motivated and thirsty for more knowledge. I take all that I remember as a student (the good, the bad, and everything in between) and try to infuse it into my own work as an educator.
