Experience

Hi, I’m Emily, the creator behind The Practical Principal. I’m a current elementary school principal with classroom experience from Kindergarten through Grade 8. I’m passionate about creating practical, ready-to-use resources that save teachers time and reduce stress. I’ve spent years supporting teachers with tools that work in real classrooms, and I love sharing what I’ve learned to help other educators thrive.

Teaching style

My approach is practical, organized, and rooted in building strong relationships with students and staff. I believe in tools that are easy to implement and save time, so teachers can focus on what truly matters: supporting student learning and well-being.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I’ve been honoured to mentor teachers, lead collaborative school initiatives, and celebrate many moments of growth in students and staff alike. I am a recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award, which recognized my commitment to student success and practical, effective teaching. Some of my favourite moments include seeing students succeed with the support systems I’ve put in place and guiding new teachers in building confidence in their classrooms.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor of Education and a Master’s in Educational Studies, along with leadership and curriculum certifications that support my work as a school principal and resource creator.

Additional biographical information

Outside of school leadership, I’m passionate about creating resources that help teachers thrive while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. My goal is to support educators with ready-to-use, practical tools that ease the daily demands of teaching.
