About the store
With a passion for both science and the arts, I bring a unique blend of creativity and analytical thinking to my teaching. Holding a bachelor's degree in secondary education with an emphasis on chemistry and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction, I am dedicated to nurturing the minds of students in physical science and chemistry, from high school to college. My philosophy of education is to provide a supportive and accepting environment for students where critical thinking is developed, and creativity is encouraged. Where mistakes are embraced as a necessary part of learning and students can build meaningful connections with content through a variety of experiences. I believe that every time a student walks into my classroom is an opportunity to affect their lives in a positive way. My master's capstone research explored the impact of student reflection and metacognitive strategies, such as planning and peer collaboration, on student success. The study demonstrated that these approaches foster critical thinking, adaptability, and problem-solving skills, enabling students to apply their knowledge in diverse situations. I believe it's crucial to embed student reflection and metacognitive strategies into any curricular content I design. This approach not only enhances learning outcomes but also helps students develop essential life skills. With a minor in visual arts, I am passionate about creating educational content that is engaging, effective, and visually appealing, ensuring that all students, not just high school students, are inspired and motivated to learn.
