Experience

With 17 years of experience teaching Spanish from levels 1 to 4, I’ve had the privilege of guiding countless students through the exciting journey of learning a new language and culture. From the basics of greetings and colors to the complexities of the subjunctive, I’m passionate about making each lesson engaging and interactive. My classroom is a space where students not only learn Spanish but also gain an appreciation for the diverse world of Spanish-speaking countries. Whether it’s through fun activities, real-world conversations, or cultural exploration, my goal is to inspire confidence and curiosity in every student. Teaching Spanish isn’t just my job – it’s my calling, and I’m always excited to help my students say "¡Hola!" to new opportunities!

Teaching style

My teaching style is all about creating a fun, energetic, and interactive environment where students feel comfortable and encouraged to take risks. I believe in the power of conversation to bring language to life, so I focus on real-world dialogue that helps students build confidence in speaking. At the same time, I incorporate a solid foundation of traditional grammar to ensure students understand the structure behind the language. My classroom is a place where bravery is encouraged – whether it’s making mistakes, speaking out loud, or trying something new, I support my students every step of the way. It’s all about having fun while mastering the language and embracing every challenge!

Awards & shining teacher moments

One of the most rewarding moments as a teacher is when former students return to share how much they loved my class and how it sparked their passion for Spanish. Whether it’s hearing that they’ve continued their language journey in high school, college, or even beyond, it’s those moments that remind me why I teach. Knowing that I’ve helped ignite a lifelong love for the Spanish language and culture is the true highlight of my teaching career.

My own education history

I graduated from Rowan University with a degree in Spanish as a non-native speaker, which has only fueled my passion for the language even more. During my studies, I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in Spanish culture during a semester abroad at the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain. This experience deepened my understanding and love of the language and its cultural nuances. Even after earning my degree, I remain committed to continuous learning, always seeking new ways to grow both as a teacher and as a lifelong student of Spanish.

Additional biographical information

In addition to being a passionate Spanish teacher, I’m also a singer and guitar player, and I love incorporating music into my lessons. Teaching language through song is a powerful tool for engaging students, and I enjoy using resources like Señor Wooly and Locura de Marzo to make learning fun and memorable. By thinking outside the box, I’m able to combine my love for music with my teaching to create dynamic lessons that resonate with my students, helping them connect with the language in a way that’s both enjoyable and effective.
