About the store

Experience

I have been teaching the fourth grade at a city run charter school for five years. I currently teach language arts, math and science.

Teaching style

I love teaching math by asking my kids to verbally explain how and why they got something. I constantly use think alouds to help students see my train of thought and for me to understand theirs. I may have no kids of my own, but the ones who enter my room will always be mine. To me, teaching reaches far beyond the classroom and I hope my students take away more than academics at then end of each year.

My own education history

I attended the University of Florida, originally as a journalism major, but I couldn't imagine spending my life behind a desk. Working with kids was something I have always done, so I changed my major and never looked back. I participated in UF's ProTeach Program and earned both my Bachelor's and Master's of Education.

Additional biographical information

Raised in South Florida, I'm a Sunshine State girl through and through! I love my 80 degree weather, flip-flops year round and spending time in and near the water. The Florida Gators are my absolute favorite team and anyone who enters my classroom can tell!
