Experience

I have 25+ years as a teacher and administrator. I have taught grade levels from 3rd to post-secondary. As a teacher, my main subjects taught were Math and English Language Arts. However, I have also taught other subjects like Social Studies and Science. As an administrator, I have extensive experience in curriculum and instructional design. I have created and implemented professional developments for teachers that cover topics such as critical thinking, differentiated instruction, problem-based learning, and technology in the classroom.

Teaching style

While I usually would modify instructional style according to the students learning preferences, my teaching style is geared towards constructivism. Essentially, the human brain is built for complex activities and not monotonous actions. Therefore, to ensure optimal learning, students must be exposed to complex learning experiences. This is the reason why I design student learning experiences that allow the students to employ multiple skills when formulating solutions.
