As a middle school teacher nestled in the beautiful hills of East Tennessee, I’ve had the joy of crafting my own lessons and units while also exploring two scripted curricula. Teaching is a journey, and I’m always on the lookout for ways to enhance my methods and make learning even more engaging for my students.
One of the most rewarding parts of this adventure is creating materials that resonate with my students and sharing them with my wonderful colleagues. I believe that collaboration is the key to success in education, and I’m excited to contribute to our collective growth!

Phineas Gage, Poetry, and Mythology Activity (7C Amplify)
Two lessons that pair with the last chapter (chapter 4) of Phineas Gage: A Gruesome but True Story About Brain Science. In these lessons students will discuss the value of knowing exactly what caused something to happen versus letting your imagination fill in the gaps. Students will read a poem by Edgar Allan Poe and trace the argument he makes, they will then answer text dependent questions about myths, finally they will create a myth to explain Phineas' amazing survival.
