As a middle school teacher nestled in the beautiful hills of East Tennessee, I’ve had the joy of crafting my own lessons and units while also exploring two scripted curricula. Teaching is a journey, and I’m always on the lookout for ways to enhance my methods and make learning even more engaging for my students.
One of the most rewarding parts of this adventure is creating materials that resonate with my students and sharing them with my wonderful colleagues. I believe that collaboration is the key to success in education, and I’m excited to contribute to our collective growth!

This interactive lesson provides students with an opportunity to review parts of speech by actively dissecting a sentence. Through this hands-on activity, students will engage in critical thinking as they break down sentence components and solve a puzzle. This worksheet guides students as they think about the importance of "the cat" in the novella Coraline. They read two short passages from the text, summarize them, and then think about how what the cat says connects to important plot point/ ideas. Finally, they answer a guided question about what "the cat" adds to the story.

Sentence Frog Dissection
This worksheet asks students to use their knowledge of word parts to put the dissected sentence back together again. While they reassemble their sentence, they also reassemble a frog. I use this as a fun hands-on review of basic grammar. This would require scissors and glue.
