Teaching style

In my classroom, writing is not treated as a one-size-fits-all assignment. Instead, students: practice skills in manageable steps apply strategies through real-world and academic writing revise with purpose using targeted feedback tools build independence over time

Awards & shining teacher moments

After my writing curriculum was adopted at the district level, student performance on the Extended Constructed Response (ECR) portion of the state ELAR assessment improved significantly. Across grades 6–12, the percentage of students scoring an 8 or higher increased from approximately 30% to over 50%.

My own education history

I am a secondary English Language Arts educator with experience teaching grades 6–12, specializing in practical, scaffolded, student-centered writing instruction. My work is grounded in real classroom practice—materials are designed, tested, revised, and refined with actual students in mind. Throughout my sixteen-year career, I have worked extensively with diverse learners, including general education students, English learners, and students with disabilities, including students with dyslexia. This has shaped my belief that intense writing instruction should be accessible, explicit, and flexible, without sacrificing rigor or creativity. I hold advanced training in literacy and curriculum design, and I am currently conducting doctoral-level research on instructional collaboration and inclusive practices. This background informs how I design resources—each product intentionally blends clear skill instruction, authentic writing tasks, and built-in supports that help students grow as confident writers.
