About the store
My goal after years of classroom teaching experience was to create useful and meaningful resources that teachers love using and find helpful. I started creating resources in 2012 when I couldn't find anything that would help me teach students to write, as well as support students' social and emotional learning. Most of my career has been in the primary years; specifically grades 2 and 3. I've also taught and been an instructional coach for K-6. Many of the classes I have taught were split/combination classes, so I learned early on how to integrate subject areas for maximum learning and engagement. I find this approach helps with the overwhelming feeling of trying to "get it all done". I enjoy helping new teachers with this! You will find resources for K-5 on reading, writing, math, social-emotional learning, and project-based learning.

Teaching style

I'm a big believer in using a reading, writing and math workshop approach to teaching. It provides such a great framework for students to follow and allows for creative and expansive learning. I'm also a big fan of the integrated learning approach. Teaching more than one curricular area in a unit will not only save you time AND resources but will also increase engagement and learning. For this reason, I also love to create science, social studies, math, and project-based learning/genius hour resources where literacy and social-emotional learning are woven in. My creative resources are skill-based and uniquely designed to make it easy for you to teach and motivate kids to learn to their fullest potential! They are designed to: * be time-saving and easy to use for teachers * increase reading, writing and math skills (both explicitly and in an integrated way) * promote learning independence and collaboration skills * develop higher-level thinking skills even with the youngest learners * increase social-emotional skills * adaptable for all learners * making learning fun

Awards & shining teacher moments

Always the best shining moments are the ones that involve students and their successes both academically and socially and emotionally. I just completed writing an online course for teachers for a large university on Teaching Reading and Other Literacies. I wrote the Scholastic Canada Let's Do Science Units (3rd-grade Biodiversity & Matter) for British Columbia. I was also the literacy reviewer for the 3-5th grade Social Studies curriculum (Pearson Canada) In past years, I was featured in Texas Teachers magazine for mindfulness, the BC Primary Teachers journal and the Tennessee Reading Teacher.
