About the store
Experience
I have been an elementary band director for over 24 years. My band consists of over 140 students at 2 learning levels. There are true beginners and students that already have one year experience.
I also sometimes teach general music and orchestra lessons.
Teaching style
I do not believe that at the elementary level we should be only teaching band music during lessons. I found most of the commercially available music to be too hard to make this a reality. So I developed a system of writing band music that allows me to combine the 2 learning levels to quickly pull together band music for our required concerts (7 per year!).
My own education history
I received my Bachelors degree for the College of St. Rose (Albany, NY), and my Masters degree from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam.
Additional biographical information
I am married with 2 beautiful children, and am the Choir Director at my church.
In my spare time (ha-ha) I sew and quilt. You can see some of my work at my Etsy shop: ThePeacefulPea.
