About the store

Experience

With experience as a Paraeducator, Substitute Teacher, Co-teacher, Classroom Teacher, and Coach, I’ve worked across both General and Special Education settings. My background has given me a deep understanding of diverse learner needs, inclusive classroom practices, and the flexibility it takes to support all students.

Teaching style

I believe there’s value in a variety of teaching and learning styles, and I strive to be flexible and responsive to students’ needs. When possible, I gravitate toward hands-on, tactile learning experiences that engage students directly with the material. I also find that student-led discussions and inquiry-based learning foster deeper, long-lasting understanding. I encourage critical thinking, real-world connections, and a trial-and-error mindset. My role is to guide, support, and challenge students while modeling curiosity myself — I openly admit when I don’t know something and invite students to explore the answers with me. Above all, I aim to help learners find their spark.

My own education history

I attended public K–12 schools in both Texas and Pennsylvania, along with one year being homeschooled. I began my college journey at Utah State University as a Broadcast Journalism major before discovering my true passion: education. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to supporting learners of all abilities through hands-on, inclusive, and curiosity-driven teaching.

Additional biographical information

Hi, I’m the educator behind The Secular Scholar! I create secular, inclusive, and student-centered resources designed to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful learning. My goal is to make high-quality materials that empower students of all backgrounds — and make your job as an educator easier, more joyful and hopefully prevent burnout. The Secular Scholar began as a way to fill the gaps I saw in curriculum: I wanted resources that were thoughtful, adaptable, and welcoming to all learners — without assumptions or fluff. I draw on my experiences across general and special education, and I design each product with care, flexibility, real world, and real classroom insight. When I’m not creating, you’ll likely find me deep in a book, cuddling my cats, exploring nature, or brainstorming creative ways to turn everyday moments into learning. I’m passionate about equity, representation, and helping every student feel seen, supported, and inspired. Thanks for visiting my shop, I’m so glad you’re here!
